Try Active Maths lessons with your class!

Here at Teach Active we believe that active learning can be both educational and enjoyable! In this blog post, we will showcase some of our exciting lesson plans and resources that promote active learning in a fun and engaging way.

Creating an active school day can benefit children in many ways including Physical Health, Social Wellbeing, Mental Health and Brain Function. However, we’re not currently unlocking this potential based on latest research from The Youth Sport Trust – Annual Report 2023...

- Less than half (47%) of young people in England are meeting minimum physical activity levels
- 70% of the school day is sedentary
- Schools and teachers are struggling to find the time to ‘do more’ on top on an already packed timetable
- New Initiatives are often short lived and not sustainable

By incorporating physical activity into the classroom, we can transform education into play and create a dynamic learning environment for students whilst also raising attitudes and attainment. Let's dive into some of our Maths resources and explore the world of active learning games!

1. "Backwards Bingo": Is a game that helps children solve problems involving multiplying and dividing, including using the distributive law to multiply two-digit numbers by one digit, integer scaling problems and harder correspondence problems.

2. "Equivalent Fractions": Equivalent Fractions is a Teach Active lesson plan designed for Year 3 students. The objective of the lesson is to recognize and show, using diagrams, equivalent fractions with small denominators. The lesson involves interactive activities to help students understand the concept of equivalent fractions effectively.

3. "Number Chase": Number Chase is a fun activity to support children with number problems. Not only does it support learning, but it is also great for teamwork, encouraging 'Maths chat' and allowing opportunities to develop reasoning skills.

By incorporating physical activity into the classroom with key stage 1 or key stage 2, we create a dynamic and engaging learning environment for students. The showcased games, provide opportunities for students to actively participate in their learning while developing essential mathematical skills. Let's embrace the power of active learning and turn education into an exciting adventure!

Remember, if you have any questions or need further information about our active learning games, please don't hesitate to contact us via email at [email protected] or give us a call at 01244 735 110.

We're here to support you on your journey towards active and engaging education!

It has been very easy to incorporate Teach Active into our curriculum, providing an effective way to encourage and implement further physical activity across the school day. The sessions are easy to use and clearly explained with resources identified.
